Asteroid Belt
There are thousands of asteroids that orbit around the Sun in the Asteroid Belt. So far, approximately more than 7000 asteroids have been discovered, however, hundreds more are discovered every year. This Asteroid Belt is found between the inner planets and outer planets.

- A NASA spacecraft called 'Galileo' photographed Ida and Gaspra on its way to explore Jupiter. These are two of the few asteroids found in the asteroid belt which have been studied closely.
- At 914km across, Ceres is the largest asteroid found so far.
- Other large asteroids include Pallas, Vesta and Hygiea which are between 400 and 525km across.
